Value For Money
How much should a driving instructor charge for driving lessons?
The price of a driving lesson is only one of the factors that you should consider when making your choice of driving instructor.
Deciding where to spend your money on driving lessons is not really like going out shopping, seeing the product you want and then shopping around for the best deal, as several shops will sell the same item, but will price them differently.
Driving instructors cannot be compared like for like. They may drive around in similar looking cars but the instruction and customer service they offer can vary enormously. Some instructors, once qualified, sit back and never take any additional training to keep up with new developements.
The Driving instructors at John Lowe Driving take part in CPD which is continued professional developement that ensures that they are at the forefront of the many changes taking place with in the industry. We have weekly meetings to chew over the multitude of events that take place, and very often find ways to improve our customer service. It’s important to get together regularly anyway.
Value for money.
There are driving Instructors who are reliable, have first class teaching skills, years of experience, high pass rates and many satisfied customers. These instructors stay busy for a very good reason, not because they are the cheapest in town but because their customers benefit from properly structured lessons and modern teaching skills, which ultimately translates into fewer driving lessons needed and a higher proportion of first time passes.
On the other hand some instructors still teach old methods and have poor customer service skills, which will mean that more lessons and tests are required, which in the end will be a lot more expensive.
If you are paying for driving lessons, your driving instructor must be on the DVSA register, and must display his licence on the car windscreen. A fully qualified instructor will display a green badge, and a trainee (part qualified) instructor will display a pink badge.
